A new technological hub in Milan for one of the world’s leading tech firm
This American multinational technology company is one of the world’s leading tech giants, ranked 48th on the 2024 Fortune 500 list of the largest U.S. corporations by 2023 revenue. Its diverse product portfolio includes personal computers, servers, monitors, computer software, and solutions for computer, network, and information security. It is also among the top three largest computer manufacturers globally.
With its well-established international presence, this company entrusted Allure with the management and delivery of its project in Milan. Seeking to collaborate with an architectural firm renowned for its global expertise and local integration, the client found an ideal partner in Allure. Allure’s multicultural approach proved critical in successfully navigating a project based in Italy for a client based in Dublin. The team’s fluency in both English and Italian ensured seamless communication and efficient coordination among all stakeholders.
The need
Having been based in their former headquarters in Milan since 2011, the space had become somewhat outdated and had reached its limits in terms of design, size, and overall appeal. With significant growth in the company’s local branch, the time for change had arrived.
The company required a modern, branded workplace to accommodate all Italian commercial teams in optimal conditions, creating an inviting environment that would encourage employees to return to the office three days a week, as outlined by corporate and local collective agreements. Additionally, the project included significant technological requirements, such as the creation of a state-of-the-art server room and a defense room designed to meet strict security regulations.
This new technological hub was established in a single-floor space spanning 2,400m² with 4m ceiling heights in a newly renovated building near Milan’s city center.
Story from the brief to the delivery
Following the validation of architectural plans developed through a strategic analysis of the brand, people, and space, the project began with restructuring the shell of the space to align with the design vision and sustainability challenges.
The new workspace was designed to accommodate over 400 employees and featured:
- Functional and fully equipped bench desks
- Townhall, conference, meeting, and hybrid rooms
- Collaborative zones to promote human interaction and serendipitous encounters
State-of-the-art technology integration, including the company’s own innovative devices and systems, was non-negotiable. A dedicated showroom was also required to display the latest advancements and products for clients. While much of the design adhered to corporate guidelines, Allure had the opportunity to interpret the colour palette and materials to reflect local tastes and trends.
The layout prioritized natural light, with reception areas, meeting rooms, and workspaces centralized, while open benches and collaborative areas surrounded the perimeter. The kitchen, designed as a hybrid café and restaurant, was strategically placed to connect with the terrace.
The showroom was conceptualized as an exclusive exhibition space, serving as the ideal venue to showcase the company’s latest devices and innovations to the Italian market.
A project focused on sustainability
A strategic focus of the project was sustainability, with requirements including:
-
- Maintaining compliance with the building’s certification “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” (LEED)
- Weekly environmental KPI reporting (covering waste lifecycle, energy consumption, recycling, furniture reuse, etc.)
Delivered on time in November 2024, the project met all objectives, establishing a dynamic, sustainable, and tech-forward workplace for the client.
Having demonstrated the value of our partnership, we are proud to have earned the client’s continued trust for upcoming projects across EMEA. Stay tuned!
