A state-of-the-art workspace in Issy-les-Moulineaux for a Global Energy Leader
This American multinational company is a leading force in the high-tech industrial energy sector.
Positioned as both a historic player and an innovator, the company is at the forefront of driving the global transition to sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy solutions. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Group employs approximately 80,000 people across 140+ countries, with projected 2024 revenue of $34–$35 billion.
In France, the firm operations brought together more than 550 employees from 13 distinct business units under one roof in Issy-les-Moulineaux. Entrusting Allure with this milestone, the client sought a partner with international expertise, local roots, and the ability to navigate complex organizational requirements.
The need
Facing the challenge of downsizing office space while enhancing employee experience, our Client required a workplace that embodied agility, collaboration, and innovation. With a particular focus on client-facing spaces, the company wanted its new premises to reflect its cutting-edge identity.
The brief also included:
• A striking reception area to create a “wow” factor for visitors.
• Modular spaces to adapt to agile configurations.
• Rigorous adherence to technical constraints, including robust IT infrastructure and compliance with local regulations.
The project spanned 7,100 m² in a newly renovated building at 167 Quai de la Bataille de Stalingrad, Issy-les-Moulineaux.
From the brief to the deliverery
Allure joined the project during the Define phase, tackling the intricate task of unifying 13 business units, each with distinct management, budgets, and telework policies. Early interviews revealed diverse expectations about workspace flexibility, leading to the development of multiple microzoning scenarios. These variations enabled all stakeholders to align on a model that balanced shared spaces with flexibility, fostering synergy while respecting individual needs.
The design process focused on creating an environment that reflected our Client’s dual commitment to sustainability and innovation. Two design concepts were proposed: one emphasizing natural, eco-friendly elements, and the other drawing inspiration from the company’s Cambridge roots with industrial touches like brick and metal.
Key design features included:
• Boardrooms with organic shapes, soft colors, and acoustically optimized lighting inspired by nature.
• Collaborative zones with curved lines, depolished glass, and wooden materials to foster connection.
• Quiet spaces for focused work, with acoustic panels and greenery-inspired designs.
The layout distributed teams across multiple floors, balancing proximity and functionality. Reception areas and meeting rooms were centralized, while open benches and collaborative spaces lined the perimeter.
Construction began with preparatory work, including floor and ceiling adjustments for technical installations. The fit-out involved:
• Electrical cabling under raised floors.
• Ventilation and plumbing adjustments above ceilings.
• Installation of partitions, flooring, and acoustics for a calm work environment.
Special attention was given to logistics, particularly during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to ensure uninterrupted material deliveries and workforce transport. Despite the challenges, the project was completed on schedule within 4.5 months.
Delivered in September 2024, the new office embodies the leader’s vision of a dynamic, sustainable, and high-tech workspace. From the modular layouts to the cutting-edge design features, every element was tailored to meet the company’s needs.
Positive feedback from the client highlighted the seamless coordination of Allure’s team, their ability to handle complex stakeholder dynamics, and the final result’s alignment with the corporate’s brand and operational goals.
With this successful project, Allure has strengthened its partnership with this American multinational company and looks forward to collaborating on future endeavors.
